Education at the Gallery

The Ipswich Art Gallery offers a range of exciting student-centred learning opportunities suitable for all ages and abilities, via a diverse program of exhibitions and events.

While the Gallery's programs are primarily concerned with the Visual Arts, most education programs have the capacity for cross-curricula links. This capacity allows the connection of ideas, processes, skills, knowledge and specialists from different learning areas - resulting in unique, creative learning experiences for students.

Special Needs

Most Gallery education programs are suitable for students with special needs. Tours and programs can often be tailored to meet the needs of your students. Please contact the Gallery on phone: 07 3810 7222 to discuss your students' needs and how they can be best met during your visit.

Early Childhood Reference Group

The Early Childhood Reference Group, made up of early childhood professionals and primary school teachers, meets bi-annually.

The group assists the Gallery to achieve the following aims:

  • To better understand how children and families learn from and engage with exhibitions.
  • To develop and promote exhibitions and programs which meet the needs of the community and education audiences.
