View the striking collages from children’s book “Mirror” by renowned children’s book author and artist Jeannie Baker. Jeannie's vibrant works present a visual story that both contrasts and reveals the parallels in the everyday life of a boy in the ‘hurly-burly’ city of Sydney and a boy in a remote Berber village in Morocco. The intricately-detailed collages take us on a journey that reveals more similarities than differences between the two cultures. Presented in conjunction with the Ipswich Festival of Children’s Literature, this is an exhibition of works that every child should see and that people of all ages will enjoy.
The exhibition is accompanied by art-making activities and a reading corner allow children to absorb themselves in the richness of Jeannie Baker's stories. Copies of Mirror by Jeannie Baker (Walker Books) will be available from the Gallery Shop.
The travelling exhibition Mirror is supported by the Australian Government through the Council for Australian–Arab Relations (CAAR).
