Behind every tattoo is a story of remembrance, mateship, identity and healing.

Ink in the Lines is an Australian War Memorial Touring Exhibition, with links to the Australian Curriculum key learning areas of Civics and Citizenship, History, Visual Arts, and English. The exhibition uses oral history interviews and portrait photography to explore the Australian experience of operational and wartime service, and its enduring impact on Australian society. Students will discover multiple perspectives of service from Australia’s veteran community, develop skills in empathy and critical thinking, and explore commemoration in Australia.

Your education group can explore the Ink in the Lines exhibition at the Ipswich Art Gallery through a guided tour provided by one of our Gallery staff.
