The Ipswich Art Gallery is located in d’Arcy Doyle Place; a pedestrian mall section of Nicholas Street between Brisbane and Limestone Streets in the Ipswich CBD.

From Brisbane:

  • Take the Ipswich Central exit from the Ipswich Motorway.
  • Follow Brisbane Road past Queens Park. It becomes Limestone Street as you enter the Ipswich CBD.
  • As you pass through three sets of traffic lights, you will see on the left the large white building of the Ipswich Civic Centre.
  • Directly opposite on the left is the pedestrian-only zone of d’Arcy Doyle Place.
  • The entry to the Ipswich Art Gallery is located half way along d’Arcy Doyle Place.


Please note: Brisbane and Limestone Streets are open to one way traffic only.

The Gallery does not have its own parking, however there is metered on-street parking on Limestone Street, Nicholas Street and Brisbane Street. Parking is usually charged between 8am-5pm on weekdays and 8am-11.30am Saturdays. Street parking is free after 11.30am on Saturdays and all-day Sundays; please check signs for details.

Ipswich CBD Parking (beneath Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct) offers free parking for up to 3 hours, with charges applying for more than 3 hours. On weekends parking is free. The car park entry is located on Bremer Street which runs parallel to the Bremer River.

To reach the Gallery from the Ipswich CBD car park:

  • Take the lift up to the GROUND level into Tulmur Place / Nicholas Street Precinct and walk south up to the traffic lights crossing Brisbane St.
  • Cross Brisbane Street and walk into d’Arcy Doyle Place.
  • The entry to the Ipswich Art Gallery is located half way along d’Arcy Doyle Place.

Coaches must drop off passengers in loading zones near the Gallery, and then park elsewhere for the duration of the visit. Passengers can then be collected from these loading zones once a pick up time has been confirmed.

The nearest drop off zones to the Gallery are on Limestone Street opposite d’Arcy Doyle Place, and on Nicholas Street opposite the Civic Centre.

Parking is available next to Timothy Molony Park on Ellenborough Street.

The Gallery is a short walk from the Ipswich Railway Station as well as bus stops. If travelling by train, alight at Ipswich Station. The Gallery is a 4-minute walk from the station. Walk left up Bell Street, right onto Brisbane Street and left onto d’Arcy Doyle Place. Visit TRANSlink for service and timetable information.
